On October 15, 2008, Brooklyn-raised and Polish immigrant Marine sergeant, Jan Pawel Pietrzak and and his African-American bride of two months, Quiana Jenkins Pietrzak were tortured and killed execution-style in their California home - allegedly by four other Marines under his command. Prosecutors said the motive was robbery but the Marine's mother insisted that it was not about money.
